Should You Add LinkedIn or Portfolio URL on Your CV?

When LinkedIn, portfolio, GitHub, or online samples can support your CV.

A LinkedIn or portfolio link can help when it supports the role you are applying for. It is especially useful for IT, marketing, design, consulting, engineering, finance, and office roles.

Add LinkedIn when your profile is updated and matches your CV. The job titles, dates, and skills should be consistent so employers do not see conflicting information.

Add a portfolio when you have work samples. Marketing applicants can show campaigns or designs. IT applicants can show GitHub, websites, apps, or technical projects.

Skilled workers can include photos or project records only if they are safe, professional, and do not reveal private client information.

Keep links short and clean. A long broken URL can look messy. Test every link before sending the CV.

Do not add social media links that are unrelated to work. If an account is personal, it is usually better to leave it off the CV.

If you do not have a LinkedIn or portfolio yet, that is okay. Focus on a strong CV first, then build your online profile later.

BuildMyCVNow includes fields for LinkedIn and portfolio URL so you can add them only when they help your application.
